In anticipation of Fluxys Belgium’s intention to merge ZEE and ZTP gas market areas as from 1 October 2023, EEX announces the trading suspension of EEX ZEE Futures and EEX ZEE OTF Futures contracts for all maturities with gas delivery on or after 1 October 2023.
The following contracts are suspended with immediate effect:
- Regulated Market Derivatives
- EEX ZEE Natural Gas Month Futures
- EEX ZEE Natural Gas Quarter Futures
- EEX ZEE Natural Gas Season Futures
- EEX ZEE Natural Gas Year Futures
- OTF Market
- EEX ZEE Natural Gas Month OTF Future
- EEX ZEE Natural Gas Quarter OTF Future
- EEX ZEE Natural Gas Season OTF Future
- EEX ZEE Natural Gas Year OTF Future
All associated spread products including the ZEE/NBP locational spread for the above mentioned contracts will also be suspended. Any potential new open interest created in these products will be
reversed by a countertrade.
EEX ZEE Futures and EEX ZEE OTF Futures contracts with a gas delivery end before 1 October 2023 remain tradable at EEX.
This decision is made to ensure the absence of ZEE open interest starting 1 October 2023, assuming the merger gets approved by the Belgian national regulator (CREG) in a near future. In the unexpected
case such merger is postponed or canceled, the suspended contracts that did not entered into gas delivery yet will be re-opened as soon as practicable.
After the regulatory decision will be publicly announced, EEX will also communicate in due time in regard to the management of EEX ZEE Spot contracts with gas delivery on and after 1 October 2023.
Furthermore, the intended merger foresees no change on ZTP, meaning all EEX ZTP contracts remain identical in all aspects.
