Action Required – Update on Expiry and Exercise for Options on EUA Futures

Update on Expiry and Exercise for Options on EUA Futures

Starting June 24th, 2020, European Energy Exchange (EEX) will implement earlier expiry for EEX EUA Options (OEUA) on the Last Trading Day with effect from the June 2020.

The exercise time for EEX EUA Options will shift on the last trading day (expiry day) from 6:00 pm to 3:00 pm CE(S)T. As a consequence, the computation of the settlement prices of its underlying, EEX EUA Futures (FEUA), will be affected.
Next to the usual settlement procedures of the EEX EUA Futures (FEUA), EEX will compute a first settlement price earlier in the afternoon at 3:00 pm CE(S)T, a second settlement for FEUA will occur late afternoon after 6:00 pm CE(S)T.

We expect this earlier settlement to appear in our EEX Group DataSource Desktop App and Excel Tools, as well as on the EEX Website. Files on the EEX Group DataSource sFTP will only display the End-of-Day results, thus the second settlement price only.

    Affected Applications:

    • EEX Group DataSource Desktop App
    • EEX Group DataSource Excel Tool
    • EEX Website
    • sFTP datasource.eex-group.com
