The European Energy Exchange (EEX) has published the revised 2021 calendar as well as the new 2022 auction calendar for the auctioning of EU emission allowances (EUA) in coordination with the European Commission, the EU member states and the EEA EFTA states which participate in the common auction platform (CAP3) as well as with the German and Polish competent authorities.
The 2021 auction calendar has been adjusted for the period from September to December 2021 in accordance with the Auctioning Regulation due to the operation of the Market Stability Reserve (MSR), taking into account the publication of the 2020 total number of allowances in circulation (TNAC) in May 2021.
The revised auction volumes from September to December 2021 will be as follows:
| EU CAP3 | DE | PL |
Volume per auction | 2,515,500 EUA | 1,805,000 EUA | 2,066,500 EUA |
Volume last auction | 2,542,500 EUA | 1,807,500 EUA | 2,074,000 EUA |
Apart from the revised auction volumes, all other auction details remain unchanged.
Furthermore, EEX has published the 2022 auction calendar for the auctioning of EU allowances (EUA). The MSR reductions of auction volumes apply from January to August 2022 based on the 2020 total number of allowances in circulation. Therefore, the volumes from September to December 2022 are preliminary as they are subject to adjustments due to the MSR and following the publication of the 2021 TNAC figures, scheduled for May 2022.
