As a result of the co-operation between EEX and various ISVs, customers can take part in trading using third-party solutions. Connection is via VPN and leased line.

Gas SPOT API access via Trayport

Trayport supports third-party access to the EEX Gas Spot market for both “Order Entry”(Write) as well as full “Market data + market depth”(read) access via the Trayport interface/API.
Subject to terms and conditions, the connectivity options are open to anyone who is compliant and wishes to access the EEX Gas SPOT market via Trayport.

EEX Gas SPOT platform offers two types of API connections allowing for Read/Write access via Trayport.

Direct Connection via own in-house software.

Trayport sets up an agreement directly between the Member and Trayport. Upon completion of TKYC, Trayport will issue a license and the in-house software establishes R/W access via the Trayport API

    Initiative: Future Gas SPOT Platform

EEX is currently exploring a potential successor to our existing Gas SPOT platform, with the aim of aligning more closely with the DBAG Group’s inhouse SPOT solutions. This new platform, temporarily named M7G.
M7G will incorporate selected components from our existing M7 Power SPOT solution, adapted and optimized specifically for gas trading.
At present, subject to regulatory approval, it is anticipated that EEX and the Exchange Council will decide in 2026 regarding the adoption of a new platform.
If feedback and integration results are positive, EEX may officially transition to M7G as the new Gas SPOT platform (pending approval).

This project is now backed by a full development team and project teams, preparing the M7G release.

In Q1 2026, EEX plans to invite all vendors and members to begin development and integration with M7G. Participation is voluntary and at vendors’ own discretion.

Subject to Exchange Council and regulatory approval, this collaborative phase will allow stakeholders to evaluate the platform thoroughly, enabling members to make an informed decision by 2027.

    Timeline Overview

Indicative timeline only – subject to change and regulatory approval

    2026 – Testing open

    • Vendors/Members are encouraged to begin configuring connections and setting up test accounts. Optional and at vendors’ own risk; EEX does not guarantee final adoption.
    • This version will serve as the baseline for development and integration, followed by sign off by Vendors and subject to regulatory approval

    2027 – Target Go-Live

    • Pending EC approval. EEX could go live at this point.
      • Dependencies: The Market Participants (Exchange council – made up of EEX members and key stakeholders) Makes an evaluation of the proposed (functioning) system vs current system
      • EEX Exchange will take advice from our Exchange council members whether the Exchange should move to the new platform. (this may be at the tail end of 2026 for decision)

    What This Means for Customers

Vendors will provide guidance in due course regarding any updates or changes to their API solutions, if applicable.

Direct Connectivity Option – EEX API

Subject to applicable terms and conditions, Members will also have the option to connect directly to the M7G platform using the EEX M7G API, should they wish to develop their own integration.
