Classroom training
2-day comprehensive exchange trading course + EEX trader exam
The 2-day classroom comprehensive exchange trading course is designed specifically for participants who want to take up exchange trading or develop further professionally. They gain comprehensive knowledge regarding exchange trading at EEX.
Once you have successfully passed the online comprehensive exchange trading course, you are entitled to trade on the EEX spot and derivatives markets. Furthermore, all participants receive a certificate confirming attendance of the course and successful passing of the relevant examination.

2. System training
The system training is mandatory for admission to the exam.
Via e-learning you will obtain the specialist knowledge you need for using the EEX trading systems.
All participants receive a login for the e-learning system training and the preparation tool. Focus on the specialist knowledge required for using the EEX trading systems. Please note that the e-learning system training is mandatory, and you have to complete at least one of the modules in order to be allowed to take the examination. The content is:
- Logging onto and setting up the system
- Order book overview and depth
- Order input mask an order administration
- Trades executed
- System messages and other system functions
Please note: You do not have to take part in the system training course if you can provide proof that you have operated in exchange trading or have gathered experience in working with a multilateral trading system over a period of, at least, six months during the two years preceding the submission of the application.
3. Examination
The examination for the comprehensive exchange trading course consists of one exam which takes 75 minutes. It covers several areas around exchange trading, which is relevant for admission, as well as additional questions. Once you have passed the examination part, which is mandatory for admission, you are entitled to trade on the EEX spot and derivatives markets.

* Persons who prove that they have been assigned the supervision of exchanges or central counterparties on a professional basis may participate in the 2-day comprehensive exchange trading course including the examination free of charge. In these cases no certificate will be issued. After having paid the full fee these persons are free to request the certificate within three years after they have taken the examination.
** These costs are charged in addition to the fees for the training course. Further venues available on request.

Online training
Online comprehensive exchange trading course + EEX trader exam
The online comprehensive exchange trading course is designed specifically for participants who want to take up exchange trading or develop further professionally. They gain comprehensive knowledge regarding exchange trading at EEX.
The online training will take place in four virtual training sessions using MS Teams, each lasting 3.5 hours in the morning. The conditions of participation are as follows:
- This course is only offered to companies within the meaning of the Value Added Tax Act, not to private individuals.
- You must use a laptop / desktop with an integrated microphone and a camera, have a stable internet connection and be able to use MS Teams. The following browsers are recommended: Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.
Once you have successfully passed the online comprehensive exchange trading course, you are entitled to trade on the EEX spot and derivatives markets. Furthermore, all participants receive a certificate confirming attendance of the course and successful passing of the EEX trader examination.

3. Examination
The exam comprises a multiple-choice examination that takes 30 minutes. It covers several areas around exchange trading. Once you have passed the examination, you are entitled to trade on the EEX spot and derivatives markets.
The examination will take place on a different date that will be defined with each participant individually.
Admission to the online trader examination is based on the precondition that you can competently use the video conference system MS Teams (sound, image, access to your browser). To ensure/supervise compliance with the rules, you will be supervised by a member of the EEX Group when answering the questions. The video conference will not be recorded. If the video conference is aborted, the test is cancelled and must be repeated. By taking this online exam you accept these conditions.
