Japanese Power Futures
Following the market launch in May 2020, the EEX Japan power product range is now firmly established as the benchmark contract in Japanese power trading, backed by the continuous support from the local trading community and international market participants.
Order Book Trading
Order book trading for the Japanese power derivatives market has been available since 22 April 2025, in addition to the existing trade registration service.
From 7 September 2026 onwards, EEX will extend exchange order book trading to cover the full Japanese business day, applying to both futures and options contracts across all available maturities and market areas, including Tokyo, Kansai and Chubu. Additionally, all trades on this market, whether executed via the central order book or registered through brokers, will be immediately processed for clearing through ECC and made publicly available through EEX's data feeds.
EEX Japan Power Options
Since February 2025, EEX offers Japanese Power Monthly Options for the Tokyo and Kansai areas, the first so-called average price options contracts on the EEX power derivatives markets. These new instruments are settled against the average of the JEPX spot prices for the Tokyo and Kansai market areas during the respective delivery month.
