EEX ensures price transparency on carbon cost for imports into the EU
The EEX Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism Reference Price – CBAM strengthens global decarbonisation endeavours by serving as a reliable, market-based pricing instrument that enhances carbon price transparency.
The EEX CBAM Reference Price allows businesses to assess the cost of carbon related to the import of goods into the EU under CBAM. It is calculated weekly on Friday and published at 1 pm CE(S)T.
EEX CBAM Reference Price is calculated as the average of EUA Primary Auctions clearing prices conducted at EEX within the respective week, weighted by the auctioned volumes. To represent the global nature of this product, it is not only published in EUR denomination, but also in additional currencies which reflect the most important trade partners of the European Union in the sectors covered by CBAM.
EEX CBAM Reference Price provides valuable information to the importing companies, which are located inside the European Union, as well as to companies exporting goods in the sectors covered by them CBAM in countries outside of the European Union.
