Privacy Policy

European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) is aware of its responsibility for the information provided to it and ensures the protection of personal data in all business processes in accordance with data protection regulations. This privacy statement only covers the websites of EEX AG and does not apply to linked third-party websites.

 

Collection and use of personal data

EEX AG only collects and uses personal data in the framework of the statutory provisions. Inventory data is collected in as far as this is required for the establishment, the conceptual design or the amendment of a contractual relationship. The collection and use of data regarding the use of the website is permissible insofar as such data is necessary in order to permit the use of electronic media and for the raising of related invoices.

When you visit the websites of EEX AG, the EEX AG web server records your country of origin, the address of your Internet service provider (IP or URL) or the server name, the name of the website from which you visit us, the name of our websites which you have called up, the operating system and the browser which you are using, the search word which you have entered as well as the date and duration of your visit in an anonymised form for statistical purposes.  

If you contact us in person and want to join a closed member group (MyEEX), we also collect additional further personal data, such as your name, your e-mail address and, as voluntary information, your company.  

If you subscribe to an information product on our website, we also require your address, your phone number, the identity of the product which you have bought and in addition, if available, your VAT identification number. The data which is collected for this process is based on the input form.  In as far as this is compatible with the business purpose, such information is voluntary. 

EEX AG does not exert any influence on the transmission of the data. Furthermore, the information transmitted is not changed. You agree to the collection and use of your personal data by using the information provided on the website of EEX AG. In individual cases, EEX AG permits the use of the information provided by EEX AG using a pseudonym, provided that it is possible and acceptable to EEX AG.

 

Disclosure of personal data

The data is not disclosed to third parties. EEX AG exclusively uses the data in order to deliver the products ordered by you and to invoice them. Upon the termination of a contractual relationship with EEX AG, the data is deleted after the expiry of the statutory period.

In specific cases, personal inventory data may be transmitted to the police authorities of the respective states, to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution of the German Federal Government and of the governments of the individual states, to the German Federal Intelligence Service or Military Intelligence Service in the specific situations provided for under the applicable law. Furthermore, an obligation on EEX to disclose personal data is possible due to the stipulations of the German Exchange and Securities Trading Acts.

 

Collection of further data

The websites of EEX AG might install so-called cookies on your computer. These are small files collecting data on the use of the website in an anonymised form. However, conclusions regarding your identity cannot be drawn. The session cookies used by EEX AG automatically expire after the end of your visit. They cannot harm your computer and do not contain any viruses. If you do not want any cookies on your computer, you have to select the corresponding function on your Internet browser.

 

Data security

We hereby point out that the transmission of data on the Internet – in particular in e-mail correspondence – has certain security risks, therefore,  full protection of the data against unauthorised access by third parties cannot be ensured by EEX AG. EEX AG takes technical and organisational safety precautions in order to protect the data against manipulation, unauthorised access, loss or damage. The IT security concept of EEX AG is subject to ongoing review in this respect.

 

Right to information

Upon a request by you, EEX AG is pleased to let you know which personal data regarding you is stored at its facilities in accordance with the applicable law. If errors arise in our inventory data in spite of all our efforts, we shall correct such forthwith.
