Admission Process

Admission to trading on EEX markets

The preconditions for admission as a trading participant on EEX are laid down in Art. 14 of the EEX Exchange Rules and in Art. 19 (4) of the German Exchange Act (BörsG). Admission can be applied for separately for the individual markets and products of the exchange.

A company can only begin to trade on the EEX markets and registered trades once it has been successfully admitted to the exchange. Proper settlement and collateralisation of transactions requires recognition as a trading participant by European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC), the EEX clearing house.

Preconditions for admission

  • Proof of personal reliability and professional qualifications of the person/s holding management authority
  • Liable equity of at least € 50,000
  • Admission of at least one trader who has proven personal reliability and who has provided proof of the required professional qualification (e.g. through the EEX trader examination)
  • Technical connection to the trading systems
  • Recognition as a trading participant by the clearing house of EEX, European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC)
