EEX obtains Certification as a Family - Friendly Company

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) has this month, been awarded the title of a family-friendly company in the framework of the “audit berufundfamilie”.

“Our team is our most important factor for success”, explains Iris Weidinger, the member of the Management Board responsible for human resources at EEX. “Therefore, creating an attractive work environment for our employees is especially important to us. This includes a good work-life balance which we have been promoting for a long time with the help of various measures. We are very pleased that, with this certification, our initiatives have now received official recognition.”

The certification is based on a comprehensive auditing process during which the current measures offered by EEX were recorded. The employees, in particular, like the parent-child area, which offers playing and sleeping areas for the employees’ children, in addition to work stations. This way, EEX gives parents the possibility to temporarily look after their children at work, e.g. if their school or day-care facility is closed. Furthermore, EEX offers its employees support in finding child care and also offers flexible working hours. Further voluntary benefits, which are provided by EEX and were recognised in the audit, aim to preserve the employees’ health. EEX promotes this, e.g., through the daily offering of fresh fruit and vegetables and grants for sports activities.

“Our employees’ positive feedback shows that we are on the right track with our commitment. In addition, during the auditing process, we have gathered many new ideas and suggestions for the future from our employees”, adds Weidinger.

EEX has also signed a target agreement in the context of the audit in order to targetedly develop the offering for its employees. Compliance with the targets through the continuous expansion of the human resources measures is reviewed regularly and forms the basis for the maintenance of the certification.
