EEX relies on the model of generating more flexibility, higher market coverage and increased volumes through the spin-off and partnerships. The spin-off of ECC AG and the co-operation with Endex are one example of the success of this model. 

The spin-off of the power spot trading company into an independent company constitutes one further step in this process.  In 2008, the spin-off of the Derivatives Market of power into an independent EEX subsidiary will follow. 

Both subsidiaries, which will at first be wholly owned by EEX, are open for co-operation, investments and partnerships of various characters. By means of this strategic alignment EEX supports the development of an integrated European energy market.
