On the Derivatives Market, natural gas is traded for the current month, for the next six months, the next 7 quarters and the next 6 calendar years. The Derivatives Market is used for medium-term optimisation of the procurement and sale of quantities of gas.
EEX offers derivatives trading for two market areas:
BEB market area
On every exchange trading day, continuous trading of BEB Natural Gas Futures Contracts takes place for the BEB market area. The settlement price for the BEB market area is published every day, after the end of trading at 5 pm.
E.ON GT market area
On every exchange trading day, continuous trading of EGT Natural Gas Futures Contracts takes place for the E.ON GT market area. The settlement price for the E.ON GT market area is published every day, after the end of trading at 5 pm.
Possibility of participation
Derivatives trading in natural gas with an exchange membership
Trading participants who are already registered on the Derivatives Market of EEX have access to derivatives trading in natural gas provided they can present a valid balance or hub agreement.
Derivatives trading in natural gas without an exchange membership
Brokers and clearing banks offer easy access to participation in trading on the exchange without an exchange membership. A complete list of the clearing banks and brokers is available at this link.
