EUA Primary Market Auction
EEX is the only exchange in Europe that has experience in EUA auctions on a regular and large-scale basis.
Since 2010, it has successfully conducted the weekly EUA primary market auctions for the German government. In addition, EEX also carries out the EUA auctions for Lithuania (in 2011 and 2012) and the Netherlands (in 2011 and 2012). With its auction model EEX offers a simple, transparent and safe channel for auctioning volumes of emission allowances.
All trading participants on EEX have the possibility of submitting their bids via the Xetra and/or Eurex platform. Furthermore, bids can be submitted via Execution Brokers admitted to EEX. In addition, bids by trading participants are also accepted by the market supervision as “trading on behalf”.
Each auction participant can only view its own bids as submitted (“Black Box Auction”). All customers already listed on EEX have the possibility of participating in the auctions of spot and derivatives contracts without any additional expenditure. Clearing and settlement are ensured through the tried and tested ECC processes.
